| Sayed el
Joker is an expert and artist
with years of experience in the world of Egyptian dance which
started in childhood and continued throughout a worldwide dance
carriere. He is comitted to the preservation of the tradition of
this rich and beautiful art form as well as experienced in
adaptations to modern settings. A native of Deschna in Upper
Egypt, he started dancing in the Luxor Folklore Ensemble when he
was only 11 years old. From 1973 - 1976 he was trained in the
School for Ballett and Performance Art
in
Cairo/ Egypt. Since that time he appeared in numerous shows,
musicals and in almost all of Egypt's
major folkloric troups. He also was a
member, teacher and soloist
in the famous Mahmoud Reda Troup
and in the Egyptian State
Television Ballett. |

In Germany he just
became famous in the dance theater and first oriental musical
named "ZARO" (production and
choreography by Momo Kadous) by playing the title role as
"Zaro" at Germany's most important oriental dance
event, the Festival Art Oriental '97 in Frankfurt.
He as well performed in different
wellknown nightclubshows in Cairo, with such
acclaimed artists as Aza Sherif, Fifi Abdou and Sahra Saeeda.
Numerous tours brought him to many oriental
countries as to Jordania, Tunisia, Morocco, Cypria,
Turkey, Syria and Irak. From 1992 he was asked by the
famous american dancer Sahra Saeeda to join her performance tour
through the USA, where he continued to stay
until 1995. |

During 1996 he performed mainly in France and Portugal
with the well-known dancer Leila Haddad, before he came to Germany.
Sayed EI Joker is a master
of the different kinds of authentic egyptian folklore.
In his workshops he explains carefully the origin and the cultural
background of the dances he is teaching. He not only shows up the
difference between the typical masculine and feminie style of the dance,
but he also explains very sensitive the different qualities of feeling
in the dances. |
